2015 Bookish Resolutions

This challenge is hosted by Michelle at Because Reading and Laura of Trips Down Imagination Road.

This is a review of my goals and how I’m doing so far:

  1. To achieve my Goodreads reading challenge goal of 200 books
So far, I have read 16 of 200 books. Goodreads indicates that I’m 2 books below where I should be. I will probably fall even further behind this week, as I’m finishing up 3 chunksters and I’m also reading some long-term books, War and Peace by Tolstoy (April finish) and all of the works of Shakespeare (finish by end of the year).

  2. Create 3-4 posts on my blog weekly. At least one of the posts will be a book review
I’m doing fairly well on this goal. I created 17 posts during the month of January for an average of 4.25 posts a week. However, only 1 of those posts was a book review.

  3. Make a habit of visiting 10 other book blogs and leaving comments about interesting posts on a weekly basis
I’m meeting this goal as I regularly visit the FitReaders and Sunday Posts participants websites weekly. I haven’t been doing a lot of comments, just because many participants don’t have similar reading tastes to myself and I’m not going to comment just to comment. However, I have commented on posts as appropriate.

  4. Complete at least 3/4 of the reading challenges that I have signed up for
To date, I have not completed any reading challenges but I have updated my progress twice. The challenge for me is to write reviews of the books I read. So that is something I have to work on in February.

  5. This is actually my biggest goal of the year. Launch a book-related project that I have been working on for the last few months. I won’t give details until financing has been secured (March/April).
I’m making steady progress on this goal. I can’t really talk about it in detail for the next few months.

  6. Participate in at least 2 read-a-thons COMPLETED
I actually completed this goal in January by participating in 2 read-a-thons, the 2015 National Readathon Day and the Winter’s Respite read-a-thon. I will continue to participate in read-a-thons throughout the year.

  7. Attend 2 book-related conventions/conferences
I did not attend any conferences in January but I did sign up for the BookExpo America convention in May. I’m also looking to participate in the SIBA (regional booksellers association) convention to be held in Atlanta in mid-March. I haven’t signed up yet but will make a final decision sometime in February.

  8. Attend at least 1 author event a month
I didn’t attend any author events in January. There was 1 I did want to attend but then backed out at the last moment. However, I did attend the author discussion and signing for Natalie Braszile’s Queen Sugar book last night. There are also several other events I have on my calendar for the month of February.

  9. My one personal goal is to continue to lose weight. Last year, I lost 29 pounds and I want to build on that. Therefore, I will be joining the #FitReaders challenge.
I did join the #FitReaders challenge and my first update for the challenge can be found here. In the two weeks I have been participating, I lost 1.7 pounds. I’m hoping by the end of February to kick it up notch.
